Courtroom Fight Breaks Out After Man Receives Reduced Sentence In Connection with Fatal Shooting of a Teen

A courtroom fight between the family of a 2024 shooting victim and the suspect’s family broke out during the suspect’s sentencing hearing on Tuesday, Feb. 25.

Edwin “Myzell” Arrington, 17, was fatally shot in Cincinnati on Jan. 1, 2024. Four months later, Latrelle Rogers was arrested in connection with the homicide. Rogers, now 20, was initially indicted on murder and assault charges, according to Local 12. Rogers struck a plea deal and pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter.

Rogers was sentenced to 12 to 17 ½ years in prison on Tuesday, according to WXIX.

After Common Pleas Court Judge Robert Winkler announced the sentence, a fight broke out among spectators in the courtroom, allegedly involving members of Arrington’s family and Rogers’ family. One of Arrington’s family members told Arrington, “Love you,” and then one of Rogers’ family members said, “F— you,” triggering the fight, per WXIX…
