It was mid-December and we were having a bad night. My wife, our daughter and I had a strong difference in opinion regarding which Christmas tree to buy at a pricey greenhouse, leading all three of us to have varying degrees of meltdowns. After several heated arguments that led the Christmas tree seller to slip away and hide, we headed home with a polarizing Douglas Fir tied to the roof of our car, all of us silently fuming. But as we made our way up Delta Avenue into Mount Lookout Square, I had an idea I thought might save the evening: “We are going to Zip’s,” I declared.
“I don’t want to go out to eat!” my daughter exclaimed.
But it was time for me to make a firm decision. A decision I knew would fix everything…
