Newport residents sound the alarm after shooting, fearing rising gun violence

NEWPORT, Ky. (WXIX) – A Newport man is in jail and faces several felony charges after he shot several rounds into a moving vehicle Sunday afternoon, Newport police said.

The shooting happened just after 5 p.m. at the corner of West Seventh and Isabella Street, and residents are concerned about seeing more gun violence in their neighborhood.

Cecil McCutchen was arrested and charged with wanton endangerment, criminal mischief and using restricted ammunition, among other charges…
