Greater Cincinnati school to close doors after 77 years

CINCINNATI (Cincinnati Business Courier) – A Catholic school in Greater Cincinnati is shutting down at the end of the school year after 77 years, citing rising costs and declining enrollment.

St. Catherine of Siena School in Fort Thomas will close its kindergarten through eighth grade program at the end of the year, but expects to continue offering its pre-kindergarten program.

In a letter sent to families March 24, Diocese of Covington Bishop John Iffert wrote, “the decline in enrollment and increasing educational costs over the last several years have placed a growing financial burden on the parish and school, making it increasingly difficult to sustain the school in a healthy and stable way.”…
