Liberty Township Pileup: Cincy Driver Indicted In 6-Car July Crash

A 23-year-old Cincinnati man is facing a slate of charges after a chaotic six-vehicle crash in Liberty Township in July that authorities say left several people hurt. Three people, including a 16-year-old girl, were seriously injured, while others suffered less severe wounds.

According to the Butler County Sheriff’s Office, the wreck unfolded at the intersection of Liberty Way and Hamilton-Mason Road when a driver allegedly ran a red light and hit a vehicle that was turning onto Cincinnati-Dayton Road. Deputies say that impact pushed the car into a head-on collision with two other vehicles and then into two more, triggering a chain reaction across six cars. WLWT reported the sheriff’s account of the crash.

Prosecutors later identified the driver as Kyler Alexander Graves. A Butler County grand jury indicted him on multiple counts, including five counts of aggravated vehicular assault, five counts of vehicular assault and two misdemeanor OVI counts. The traffic report notes the crash happened around 9:30 p.m. on July 5 and involved 16 people in six vehicles, with three occupants transported to local hospitals for suspected serious injuries. Graves was treated for a minor injury at UC Health West Chester Hospital, according to Journal-News.

Court Schedule And Why The Case Is Back In The Spotlight

The case moved forward this month when prosecutors presented evidence to a grand jury, resulting in the indictment, and the defendant is scheduled to appear before a judge on Tuesday. WLWT reported the latest court date as the first significant development since the July crash.

Whether enhanced or mandatory terms come into play will depend on the final charges, any prior convictions and how prosecutors choose to proceed in Butler County court…
