Late-Night Gunfight Outside Aronoff Turns Downtown Cincinnati Into Crime Scene

Downtown Cincinnati’s theater district turned into a crime scene early Saturday when gunfire erupted just steps from the Aronoff Center, leaving one person injured at the intersection of Walnut Street and East 7th Street, according to police. Officers rushed in around 2:30 a.m., quickly blocking off nearby streets with crime-scene tape as investigators combed the area for evidence. Authorities did not immediately release details on the victim’s condition or identify any suspects.

According to WLWT, Cincinnati police said the shooting unfolded at about 2:30 a.m. at Walnut and East 7th streets, right outside the Aronoff Center for the Arts. WLWT reported that officers shut down surrounding streets while detectives worked into the morning, documenting the scene and collecting shell casings and other potential evidence.

Scene and police response

As WCPO detailed, officers at the scene said the violence started as a large fight outside a bar across from the Aronoff Center before two groups pulled guns and exchanged fire. WCPO reported that a woman was hit in the hip and taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center for treatment. Police had not released any suspect information as of Saturday morning.
