Kentucky commits $2M to new St. Vincent de Paul building

A long-planned expansion for one of Northern Kentucky’s largest social service providers just got a major boost from the state — and it could reshape how thousands of families access help.

St. Vincent de Paul Northern Kentucky says a $2 million state appropriation will accelerate plans for a new, purpose-built facility in Erlanger, moving the project significantly closer to reality after years of operating out of a space never designed for its current scope.

The funding, approved as part of Kentucky’s House Bill 900 and backed by Rep. Kim Banta (Republican – District 63), arrives as the nonprofit pushes toward its $12 million goal. The organization has already raised $9.6 million — about 80% of the total — through its “Hands of Hope” capital campaign.

For nonprofit leaders and funders watching the project, the investment signals more than a construction milestone. It reflects a broader shift toward integrated, dignity-centered service delivery — and the growing role public funding can play in scaling that work…
