VIOLENCE AT “THE CASTLE”: Convicted Murderer Stabs Lieutenant Inside Kentucky State Penitentiary

EDDYVILLE, KY — Detectives with Kentucky State Police Post 1 are investigating a violent assault on a staff member at the Kentucky State Penitentiary, known locally as “The Castle,” that occurred earlier this month.

On the afternoon of Friday, April 2, 2026, KSP received a report that an inmate had stabbed a lieutenant within the maximum-security facility. The initial investigation identified the suspect as 57-year-old Sean Noakes of Florence, KY. Noakes allegedly utilized a sharp object to strike Lieutenant Zabulon Pierre.

Lieutenant Pierre was treated for minor injuries and subsequently released from a local hospital. KSP troopers and detectives responded to both the penitentiary and the hospital to secure evidence and conduct interviews…
