NEWPORT, Ky. (WKRC) – Newport Central Catholic High School marked a major milestone on Tuesday with the blessing and dedication of the Ciafardini Family Athletic Complex, a new multisport venue school leaders say will shape the next generation of student-athletes and academics.
The celebration began with Mass at 1 p.m., celebrated by the Most Reverend John C. Iffert, Bishop of Covington. As the first official event held at the complex, the Mass underscored the school’s faith tradition.
The project, supported by years of planning and fundraising through the Looking Up Campaign, was made possible through leadership gifts from Anthony (Tony) Ciafardini, Newport Catholic ’66, along with contributions from hundreds of donors, volunteers, and supporters.
“We are incredibly grateful for the support of the Ciafardini family and all our donors who made this multisport complex and the entire Looking Up Campaign possible. This space will help our community form students not only as athletes but as individuals of high character, striving to be the best versions of themselves as God calls us to be,” said Principal Kenny Collopy. “Our community has served as a metaphorical light on the hill for decades, and now this complex will be a literal reminder of the light of Christ to the Cincinnati River area for ‘a city on a hill cannot be hidden.’”…
