Hamilton County jail inmate charged with attempted murder of fellow inmate

CINCINNATI (WXIX) – A Hamilton County jail inmate is charged with attempted murder of a fellow inmate earlier this month.

A grand jury also indicted Daesha Smartt, 29, with felonious assault in the April 14 incident at the Hamilton County Justice Center.

Court records show the alleged victim was seriously hurt and hospitalized with “severe injuries.”

According to an affidavit, Smartt “did purposely get into a fight with her cellmate…. While fighting, the defendant did knowingly strike the victim with her hands and stabbed the victim with a colored pencil in the head.”…
