Black bear sightings in Cheatham County prompt safety concerns

KINGSTON SPRINGS, Tenn. (WSMV) – People in Cheatham County said they were shocked when a black bear showed up at their homes, the latest sighting in the area has people on alert.

Wildlife officials said there are multiple bears roaming around Middle Tennessee right now, and one of them showed up in a Kingston Springs neighborhood on Thursday and there was also a sighting in Pegram on Friday.

People sent WSMV photos and videos of the bear walking through their yards and even coming up onto their porches to eat out of bird feeders. People said they’ve never seen a bear in their neighborhood and they’re keeping a close eye on their pets and children when they go outside.
