Clarksville physician accused of healthcare fraud in multi-year scheme

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A Clarksville physician is accused of being connected to a multi-year scheme where he allegedly prescribed controlled substances without a legitimate medical purpose.

According to the United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Tennessee, 77-year-old Ramon Aquino is being charged with one count of health care fraud.

Allegations were made that Aquino owned and operated North Clarksville Medical Center and prescribed medically unnecessary controlled substances to patients for over five years. He reportedly issued prescriptions that totaled over 1.08 million pills and doses of controlled substances.
