For more than 70 years, the Christian County Farm Bureau has helped shape the Western Kentucky State Fair. This year, the commitment comes with a new addition: its first ever food booth, where every purchase helps support the next generation of local students.
The Christian County Farm Bureau has been involved with the fair since it began in 1952, and remains a part owner alongside the Hopkinsville Jaycees. According to Christian County historian William Turner, the two organized the fair together and have remained involved ever since.
Barry Cornelius, from the bureau, said the proceeds from the food booth will go directly to its scholarship program. The organization currently awards five scholarships each year, but hopes the additional funding will allow it to expand those opportunities for students…
