Clarksville approves property tax increase after weeks of budget debate

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — After weeks of budget discussions, Clarksville homeowners will soon see a higher property tax bill.

The Clarksville City Council approved a new property tax rate of $1.01, which includes a 9-cent property tax increase. City leaders say the increase is needed to help fund day-to-day operations as Clarksville continues to grow.

Mayor Joe Pitts said the increase will mean about $9 to $10 more per month for many homeowners…
