Seventy-one years after the Kelly-Hopkinsville encounter put Christian County on the UFO map, Hopkinsville is once again embracing its little green men with the second annual GoblinCon UFO and Paranormal Expo.
The two-day event continues Sunday at The Bruce, bringing together paranormal enthusiasts, UFO researchers, cryptid fans, vendors and curious visitors for a weekend built around one of the region’s most unusual chapters of history. GoblinCon runs from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
The convention is organized by Visit Hopkinsville and was created in part to highlight the community’s connection to the Aug. 21, 1955, Kelly-Hopkinsville encounter. The incident began when residents of the Kelly community reported seeing strange creatures around a farmhouse and later sought help from Hopkinsville police.
