Students in Christian County have been in school for almost a month already, and Superintendent Chris Bentzel is pleased with how the school year has started off so far.
The one thing he hasn’t been happy with is the overbearing heat, as repeating heatwaves have put pressure on cooling systems, outdoor activities and especially on school buses taking children back home in the afternoons. Bentzel says they’re working hard to be as efficient as they can, so students are spending as little time as possible sitting on a hot bus, and they’re providing water so students stay hydrated.
The superintendent says heads up students, as Wednesday is High Attendance Day across the state, and they want to see every student in their classrooms if possible. Bentzel says attendance is of vital importance for the obvious reason—students can’t learn if they’re not in school…
