SOMERSET, Ky. (WKYT) – After the 9/11 attacks, members of the Fifth Special Forces Group, based at Fort Campbell, were given the task of fighting the Taliban and al-Qaida in Afghanistan. They were the first Americans there.
Special Forces Commander Mark Nutsch, who now lives in Somerset, and his team were trained in unconventional warfare. But Afghanistan presented a different challenge: the unit had to fight on horseback.
