MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — Even some of Tennessee’s endangered bat species are getting in on the wearable tech space.
Biologists from agencies such as the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency and The Nature Conservancy gathered at Montgomery County’s Bellamy Cave this week to tag gray bats.

According to TWRA, the gray bat is an endangered species that typically migrates between two caves. The largest one in the state is Bellamy Cave.
There, biologists captured and carefully attached Motus transmitters to the back of gray bats. The tech is attached with surgical adhesive and worn until the device falls off—which is typically a month.
