The energy was high and hopeful at the Christian County Justice Center Saturday morning, as a large crowd came together for the Pennyrile Walk to End Alzheimer’s and the goal of one day finding a cure.
While the ceremony held before the Walk itself can be a sober reminder of those who are battling Alzheimer’s and dementia every day in the United States and across the world, the atmosphere was also a joyful, hopeful one as people carried flower pinwheels representing different things. Orange represents those supporting the fight against Alzheimer’s; yellow represents those caring for someone with the disease; blue represents those currently fighting Alzheimer’s and purple represents those who have lost a loved one to the disease.
There is also a white flower, and it represents the driving force behind the Walk, and that’s find a cure to the illness that affects so many. Nick Hancock thanked everyone for coming, saying that when everyone works together, they can make it a reality…
