Officials said the fire broke out in a chair on the second floor, where a load of sheets used on massage tables were piled up after coming out of a hot dryer. The combination of the massage oils and the heat caused a fire to ignite after smoldering.

The department reported a family was fast asleep in the third floor apartment, but a single fire sprinkler activated and brought the blaze occurring in the commercial space below under control, saving multiple lives .
