MADISON, Tenn. (WKRN) — Monday, Feb. 12 is the last day to apply for FEMA assistance after the December tornadoes. As of Friday, Feb. 9, FEMA has received 4,252 applications for disaster assistance programs.
More than $3.6 million in grants and over $1.8 million in other needs assistance have been distributed.
An estimated 97% of home and rental inspections are complete, totaling 1,861 properties.
Severe storms, rain/snow mix possible Monday
Through the process, FEMA has had two disaster recovery centers open to help answer questions and file paperwork.
- Nashville State Community College North Davidson Campus (1520 Gallatin Pike North in Madison) — open Monday, 9:00 – 4:30pm
- Clarksville County Public Library (350 Pagent Lane in Clarksville)
Michelle Austin, director of neighborhood and community services in Clarksville, said they anticipate recovery will last at least two years.
“Immediately after the tornado on December 9, we had so many resources that became available,” said Austin. “Honestly, it was a struggle to communicate all the resources, stay on top of that, and let everyone know what is out there.”
