NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — The humble reminder of winter will hit Middle Tennessee in full force on Friday into the weekend. The News 2 Weather Authority is tracking a potent cold front that will initially bring rain and a few storms, then colder air moves in, changing the rain to snow showers. A light accumulation is possible before a dry and cold weekend.

TIMING ON FUTURE TRACKER: Friday should be dry for at least half of the day, with showers pushing in during the afternoon with temperatures ranging from low 40s in Clarksville to mid-60s in southeast Middle TN. Friday evening as colder air moves in, the changeover to snow showers will occur. The snow will taper off after midnight with temperatures tumbling to the upper 20s for lows.

Most areas in Middle TN will be seeing a dusting to maybe 1/2″, mostly on elevated surfaces. However, some areas could see up to 1″+, especially in east Middle TN and along the border with Kentucky extending northward.
