Fire truck crashes while responding to house fire in Pleasant View

PLEASANT VIEW, Tenn. (WKRN) — A Pleasant View fire truck crashed overnight while responding to reports of a house fire.

Officials told News 2 that crews were sent to a house fire on Balthrop Road in the Chapmansboro area around midnight on Wednesday, July 31.

As firefighters were making their way to the scene, one truck crashed in the 1000 block of Oaklawn Road.

According to a crash report provided by THP, the fire truck traveled off the roadway, entered a ditch and overturned on its passenger side after attempting to negotiate a curve.

Minor injuries were reported in the crash and a News 2 crew was there as the truck was towed away.

Fire investigators believe the fire on Balthrop Road was caused by lightning. In fact, Pleasant View fire crews said they responded to at least three fires overnight that may be linked to lightning.

No other information about the crash or fires were immediately released.
