An elementary school principal will become the new personnel director for Christian County Public Schools.
The district announced in a press release that Leslie Lancaster will move from Freedom Elementary School to the central office to oversee personnel matters beginning Oct. 1.
“Ms. Lancaster is a seasoned and accomplished principal in our district with extensive experience and proven success. Her leadership and knowledge will be an invaluable asset to our personnel department,” Superintendent Chris Bentzel said in the release.
Beth Unfried, a retired administrator who most recently was the head of school for University Heights Academy, will become the interim principal until a new principal is named for Freedom Elementary.
Lancaster is a graduate of Murray State University and Walden University and holds a Rank 1 and instructional supervisor endorsement in education. She and her husband, Jim, reside in Hopkinsville and have two sons and a daughter. After college, Lancaster returned to Christian County and taught for 11 years at Millbrooke and Pembroke elementary schools. She later became principal at Sinking Fork Elementary and was named Freedom’s principal in 2022.
