Body of missing Fort Campbell soldier found by state officials

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency officers recovered the body of John Michael Jackson from Kentucky Lake at about 6:30 p.m. on Friday evening, following a dayslong search, Henry County Sheriff’s Office reported .

Jackson, 22, was a soldier in the 101st Airborne Division. He was reported missing in Henry County on Wednesday after his vehicle was found parked on the side of the bridge at Paris Landing, but Jackson was missing.

Search and rescue efforts were made by HCSO, TWRA, and the Henry County Rescue Squad on Wednesday night and into Thursday before heavy rain required a pause. Recovery efforts were limited by inclement weather on Friday.

TWRA officials were checking the shoreline of Kentucky Lake at Gray’s Landing on Friday at around 6:15 p.m. when they spotted Jackson’s body.

Jackson joined the U.S. Army as a Network Communication Systems Specialist in August 2023, and has served at Fort Campbell since May 2024.
