ASHLAND CITY, Tenn. (WKRN) — An Ashland City couple got a ride to the county jail after police said they detected the odor of drugs in the air while conducting a welfare check.
According to the Ashland City Police Department, the incident unfolded on Sunday, Sept. 29 at approximately 8:15 a.m. after officers were sent to Haywood Hills Road to conduct a welfare check on two people.
Authorities told News 2 dead end road is located near a creek and is known as an area where families often come to fish, but also a place where drug offenders come to do drugs.
The initial call allegedly came in as a report about two individuals who were believed to be passed out in a vehicle. However, police said the situation turned out to be much more.
Police said when they arrived to the scene they found the a couple — identified as 24-year-old Britney Biggs and 26-year-old Jason Jones — walking back toward a vehicle.
