According to authorities, when officers approached the room, knocked on the door, and announced their presence, the occupant shot through the door with a firearm. However, nobody was injured by the projectile.

Police said they evacuated the adjacent rooms and the immediate area as they set up a perimeter.

Shortly before 2:30 p.m., officials announced that crisis negotiators were trying to communicate with the barricaded suspect.
