Lady Colonels Fall to Mercy and then Beat Hancock in Slugfest

Runs were at a premium for the Christian County Lady Colonels Saturday as they traveled to Mike Miller Park Saturday for the annual Marshall County Slugfest. The Lady Colonels fell to Mercy 6-1 in their opening game of the day and then rebounded to take a 2-1 win over Hancock County in the second game.

Against Mercy, the Jaguars scored in each of their first three at-bats to build a 6-0 lead. That would be more than enough for senior pitcher Olivia Colebank. Colebank allowed just three hits in six innings in the circle and gave up one unearned run as the Jaguars got the win in the six-inning game that ended due to time limit. Colebank struck out 12 and walked none.

Christian County got on the board in the top of the sixth when Jazzy Tejada singled to drive in Avery Adock for the Lady Colonels’ only run of the game. Avery Adcock and Alexis Epps had one hit each as the Lady Colonels were held to just three hits for the game…
