CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — Heading into the 2026 fiscal year, Mayor Joe Pitts’ newly released budget proposal outlines a sweeping approach to stormwater management aiming to protect neighborhoods, businesses, and public infrastructure from future disasters.
Key among the changes: the city’s Gas and Water Department will take the lead on stormwater infrastructure, a responsibility currently held by the Street Department. The department will soon hire a consultant to create a dedicated Storm Water Utility that will oversee drainage systems across the city.
