Montgomery County unveils new Remote Control Park

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Montgomery County Parks and Recreation has unveiled an inaugural Remote Control park.

The RC Park is located behind the Rotary Park Disc Golf Course off E. Old Ashland City Road. Director of Montgomery County Parks and Recreation, Sally Read, said that the idea for the park came from interest from park patrons.

The park is designed for RC cars, trucks, crawlers and more. The area includes a track, ramps and climbing features designed specifically for RC activities. Prior to the unveiling, residents had no access to an RC track, which left visitors to use the park’s parking lot.

Montgomery County Trail Maintenance Specialist Stu Drake looked at opportunities to build the track and saw an underutilized area to convert into the park. Nine years ago, the land had mountain bikes and BMX bikes in mind. It stayed largely the same; Drake said volunteers from the RC community helped with the vision for the new design.
