SPRINGFIELD, Tenn. (WKRN) — With several upgrades already on display, one new playground at a Robertson County park is nearing completion.
In 2023, the City of Springfield was awarded $50,000 for improvements at Garner Street Park from Gov. Bill Lee and the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation. At their September 17, 2024 meeting, the Board of Mayor and Aldermen voted to award a bid for the new playground.

In a Wednesday social media update, city leaders said artificial turf installation is underway. The roof of the bathroom is up and additional playground elements are in place.
The $500,000 park replacement will feature a range of innovative accessibility features and will be Springfield’s second accessible playground, following the 2019 playground installation at Martin Luther King, Jr. Park.
