Man involved in hit and run accident found driving drunk in Hopkinsville

HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – A man who was wanted for his involvement in an accident with injuries in Lyon County was located by Hopkinsville Police while driving under the influence.

Officers with HPD were advised by the Kentucky State Police to be on the lookout f0r the vehicle, which was spotted on June 27 at Canton Street around 10 p.m. The arrest report details that the vehicle was driving erratically across the lanes of traffic and had visible damage from a collision.

A traffic stop was initiated, and officers noted that the 25-year-old Hopkinsville man was unsteady on his feet. According to HPD, the suspect, identified as Peyton Hughes, admitted to drinking multiple alcoholic beverages earlier in the day and confirmed that he previously left the scene after being involved in the Lyon County accident…
