CHRISTIAN COUNTY, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Crofton’s newest restaurant The Dutch Oven has opened, offering the community a made from scratch Amish style buffet that features simple, homestyle cuisine. Owner Alvin Jantzi welcomed the public into the restaurant on June 27 after months of renovations at their Main Street location.
“It’s good, old fashioned cooked food,” Jantzi told Christian County Now. “When people step in the food looks good, smells good, and it’s hot and fresh.” The goal of The Dutch Oven is to offer a new culinary experience to the area and supply some variety in buffet options. After spending years working with horses, Jantzi decided to pursue his interest in the restaurant businesses. Although he and his business partner had no prior experience in the industry, they were inspired by their family recipes.
Buffet offerings will vary each week, featuring homestyle staples like meatballs, mashed potatoes, fried chicken, meatloaf, veggies, white beans, barbecue, house made pulled pork, grilled chicken, and fish. The buffet will also have a salad bar, ice cream, and a hearty dessert along with coffee and pastries.
