It can no longer be denied—Hopkinsville is witnessing a surge in the homeless population, and officials are trying to brainstorm what can be done to help both those individuals and the city as a whole.
Appearing on WHOP recently, Hopkinsville Mayor J.R. Knight says the Hopkinsville Police Department has increased patrols on the Greenway System, where it’s been reported that unhoused individuals have been setting up camp in an attempt to be out of the elements. Mayor Knight says that’s just a temporary fix however, as the homelessness crisis continues.
He says it’s a problem that’s affecting cities across the nation, but he’s responsibility is to Hopkinsville, and as more folks make their way to the city, they’re having to try and face the issue head on…
