TDOT awards Clarksville Transit System $3.2 million for 2 buses, Park and Ride upgrade

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Thanks to a state grant, Clarksville will soon get two new city buses and a transfer center with restrooms for the Park and Ride lot at Exit 11.

The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) selected Clarksville Transit System’s proposal for funding of the projects under the Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality Improvement (CMAQ) Program.

The two 35-foot, hybrid buses will act as replacements to aging vehicles that have reached the end of their lives. City spokesperson Jill Hall told Clarksville Now the project will depend on which buses reach the mileage requirement first, but most likely they will replace older hybrid buses. Hall said $1.6 million has been awarded for that project…
