In a unanimous decision by the 93-member council, which includes a mix of mayors, county executives, state legislators, and local community development officials, the GNRC re-elected its board officers across the board, showcasing a strong collective trust in the existing leadership.
Alongside Pitts, Mayor Kerry McCarver of Cheatham County has been named Vice Chair; Mayor Mary Esther Reed, calling the Town of Smyrna home, claims the title of Treasurer; and the council confirmed Michael Skipper—the GNRC’s Executive Director—as the Secretary (Ex-Officio), according to a recent article by the City of Clarksville official website.
Fiscal year 2026 will see GNRC operating on a $22.8 million budget, a significant slice of which—nearly 43 percent, to be exact—will feed directly into local community projects and nonprofits; this budget move aligns with GNRC’s goal to fortify Middle Tennessee with aging and disability services, economic and community development, infrastructure investment, and community planning across its 13 counties.
