Sycamore bands seek donations to replace aged drumline equipment

The Sycamore Middle School and Sycamore High School marching bands are in need of some new drumline equipment, and they are looking to the public for help to ensure the beat goes on.

Sycamore High School band director Malik Sylvester and then Sycamore Middle School band director Penelope Pitts appeared before the Cheatham County Commission April 21 and the Cheatham County School Board May 1 to discuss aging equipment in the drumline department.

Though the school music programs receive some funding from the county commission and school board, it has not been enough to fully fund the program, requiring the school bands to raise funds for the rest. Trying to “make do” in the past has sometimes meant the two marching bands had to share equipment, though both bands currently have their own drumline equipment…
