Clarksville Foundry’s cannon advances to top 16 in Coolest Thing Made in Tennessee contest

CLARKSVILLE, TN − Clarksville Foundry is proud to announce that its Model 1841 6-Pounder Field Gun (Cannon) has advanced to the Top 16 in the 2025 Coolest Thing Made in Tennessee contest.

This achievement would not have been possible without the unwavering support of the City of Clarksville, Clarksville Area Chamber of Commerce, Clarksville-Montgomery County Economic Development Council, our community members, customers, elected officials, employees, family, friends, vendors, and the Montgomery County government.

“We are thrilled to receive this recognition,” said Charles Foust, Clarksville Foundry owner and operator. “This contest shines a spotlight on Tennessee’s manufacturing excellence, and we are honored to represent Clarksville on this statewide stage.”

About the cannon

The Model 1841 6-Pounder Field Gun is a historically significant artillery piece, widely used during the Mexican American War and the early years of the Civil War. Clarksville Foundry’s reproduction combines authentic 19th-century design with modern precision craftsmanship. Each piece of the cannon is iron cast, finished, and assembled in Clarksville, Tennessee, continuing a tradition of ironwork that dates back to the Foundry’s establishment in 1847.

Next round of voting ends Aug. 12

As the competition heats up, Clarksville Foundry is asking for the community’s continued support to help secure a spot in the top 8. Public voting began Tuesday, Aug. 5, on the official Coolest Thing Made in Tennessee website. Supporters can vote once per day through Aug. 12…
