A new license plate reader system may soon give Dickson County residents a new meaning to the phrase “smile, you’re on candid camera.”
The Dickson County Commission unanimously approved an annual contract of $36,000 with Delaware-based Flock Group to provide license plate reading (LPR) and alert services for the Dickson County Sheriff’s Office at its regular meeting in July.
Dickson County Sheriff Tim Eads said the LPR system would be installed at 12 major entry points in the county to be used for things like amber alerts, stolen vehicles, burglary warrants, murder warrants and the like. He also noted it would not be used for speeding or traffic tickets…
