It’s official: Wawa, the convenience store with a cult-like following, is coming to Nashville

File this under the list of things you probably wouldn’t expect to see waiting for you inside Second Harvest Food Bank: a giant goose handing out high fives, taking selfies and drumming up excitement for hoagie sandwiches.

Yet that was the scene on Aug. 12, when the food bank played host to the rapidly expanding convenience store chain Wawa — and its mascot, Wally Goose — as it announced plans to bring more than 50 stores to Tennessee in the next decade.

The Pennsylvania-based company’s first six Middle Tennessee stores will be opening by the end of 2026, with groundbreaking events scheduled for this week in both Murfreesboro and Clarksville.
