HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Adults who want to prove their spelling abilities have the opportunity to show off their vocabular while raising money for the Christian County Literacy Council. Funds will help forward their mission of encouraging youth literacy in the community through various programs.
Visit Hopkinsville is hosting the 2nd Annual Adult Spelling Bee at the Hopkinsville Brewing Company on Friday, Sept. 5 at 6 p.m. While last year only had individuals competing against each other in a fun, low pressure environment, this year businesses and organizations can form teams to compete.
HBC will be providing the beer, and the Literacy Council will be providing the words for this entertaining event. Last year’s Bee raised $1,500, and brought together nearly a dozen competitors from across the county including firefighters, teachers, and business owners.
