Proposed lower property tax rate moves forward in Christian County

HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – The Christian County Fiscal Court has approved the first vote to lower the property tax rate for a third year in a row. Since 2023, the property tax rate has dropped from 18.1 cents to 17.6, and now to 16.7 per $100 of assessed property value.

“That’s a testament to our growth,” said Judge Executive Jerry Gilliam during the Aug. 13 meeting. “There are arguments of reassessments, which is playing a factor in that…assessments occur once every four years, and we have consistently lowered our property tax since we have taken office in 2023.”
