Hopkinsville Police officers, K9 fall through ceiling while pursuing suspect in attic

HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Officers and a K9 fell through a ceiling of a residence while attempting to remove a wanted suspect from an attic Thursday night.

An arrest report from HPD says officers were dispatched to a residence on Copperfield Avenue on Aug. 21 around 8:30 p.m. in reference to a suspect who had a warrant out for his arrest. After no one answered the door, the homeowner was contacted and gave officers consent to search the residence for the 46-year-old male suspect. According to the arrest report, officers gave multiple commands for the suspect to exit the residence, but he did not comply.

A K9 successfully located him in the attic, but he would not exit the space. According to Officer Royale Marfil, while the arresting officers attempted to apprehend the suspect in the attic, their feet went through the ceiling multiple times, and an officer and K9 fell completely through the ceiling while in pursuit.
