HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Visit Hopkinsville is spreading supernatural cheer with this year’s family friendly Alien Invasion Day. Scheduled to honor the 70th anniversary of the Kelly Little Green Men encounter, community members who have an eye for the supernatural joined for a day of vendors, food, and games.
The 1955 Kelly encounter in northern Christian County remains one of the most compelling and debated close encounters in UFO history. This is the second year Hopkinsville has tackled the event, taking over the beloved Alien Days festival that was held annually in Kelly, Kentucky up until the COVID-19 pandemic.
Leading up to Alien Invasion Day, there was a Goblin Hunt happening with various businesses decorating small alien statues across the city. Over 30 teams signed up in this massive scavenger hunt, taking photos for a chance to win prizes at the end of the festival.
In a couple of months, the GoblinCon UFO & Paranormal Expo will be at The Bruce on Oct. 17-18. to dive into the supernatural further. A current list of vendors and activities can be found at the GoblinCon website.
