Nashville, Tenn. – August brought persistent heat and deepening drought concerns to Middle Tennessee, with Nashville logging 21 days above 90 degrees and rainfall totals well below normal across much of the region.
According to the National Weather Service in Nashville, the city averaged 90.6°F for daytime highs and recorded just 2.36 inches of rain—1.43 inches below the monthly norm. Clarksville fared worse, receiving a meager 0.27 inches for the month, down 2.63 inches from average, making it one of the driest Augusts in recent memory. Crossville stood as the outlier with over 5 inches of rain, thanks in part to 12 precipitation days and multiple downpours between August 23–24.
Thunderstorm activity remained limited, with only 2 storm days in Nashville and 4 in Clarksville. The region’s peak gusts reached up to 57 mph in Crossville and 33 mph in Nashville.
