OAK GROVE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – The 17th Annual Butterfly Festival was held at the War Memorial Walking Trail in Oak Grove, bringing in hundreds of people to celebrate the colorful, fluttering pollinators. Presented by Oak Grove Tourism, this growing event had a day full of family activities and vendors, leading up to the dramatic release of over 2,600 butterflies.
In previous years, Monarch butterflies were released during the festival, but this year they also had Painted Lady and Red Admiral butterflies. After being released, they flew into the crowd of people landing on outstretched hands and faces before beginning their fall migration further south.
