Drought deepens across the region

After a spring and early summer that brought more rain than this area might normally get in a year, the ground is now very parched, as our drought conditions only continue to deepen.

In fact, the National Weather Service in Paducah shows that portions of far western Kentucky and north western Tennessee are in now in an Extreme Drought, having not seen appreciable rainfall in numerous weeks now. The area of western Kentucky that includes Christian, Todd, Trigg and surrounding counties are now in Severe Drought levels.

In the last week, the majority of region received very little rain—if they got any at all—and the temperatures have been hot, with low humidity. That’s a perfect recipe for drying the area out…
