Clarksville man charged with vehicular homicide in deadly I-24 crash

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A Clarksville man has been arrested in connection with a deadly crash that occurred on Interstate 24 in April.

According to the Metro Nashville Police Department, the Traffic Division’s investigation revealed 30-year-old Inderjit Singh was driving a Nissan Altima at over 100 miles per hour during the crash that occurred on April 9 on I-24 Westbound with a tractor-trailer, resulting in the death of his 42-year-old relative — later identified as Pritam “Peter” Singh.

Police said the tractor-trailer was traveling westbound on I-24 in the right lane and moved to the left lane upon approaching a broken-down vehicle pulled over on the road’s right shoulder. The tractor-trailer then merged back into the right lane, and the Altima hit the trailer’s tires, which caused the Altima to leave the roadway and roll into the tree line, officials said.

Inderjit and his 19-year-old rear seat passenger were taken to Skyline Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, officials said.

Police said Inderjit Singh is now charged with vehicular homicide by reckless conduct, three counts of reckless endangerment and not having a driver’s license. He is in jail on a $58,000 bond…
