It’s often said it takes a village to raise a child. One Burns family is learning, though, that the village that walks with them through the joys of life is the same one that carries and consoles them when death comes calling.
Burns is grieving the loss of 10-year-old Carter Franklin Lee Smith, who died Monday night, Sept. 29 as a result of a gun shot wound to the head. A student at Stuart-Burns Elementary School, Carter was also a regular part of the children’s ministry at Compassion Church in Dickson. Carter lived with his father Travis Smith, paternal grandmother Jeanine Smith, owner of Jeanine’s Cafe in Dickson, and his older brother Grady.
The incident is currently under investigation by the Dickson County Sheriff’s Office with no further details being released to the public at this time…
