CLARKSVILLE, TN – The Austin Peay State University (APSU) chapter of the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi (PKP), Chapter 191, is marking the start of its 50th induction anniversary celebration with two community-focused events in October. The chapter is using its Homecoming activities to support local literacy through its “Candy for the Mind” initiative.
The celebration begins with a PKP Alumni Reception on Thursday, Oct. 23, at 5 p.m. in the Harned Hall Gallery. PKP alumni are invited to network and reconnect with the chapter as it prepares for its 50th induction ceremony in Spring 2026. While the reception is free, the chapter is asking attendees to bring donations of new or gently used books – especially board books for early pre-readers – to support its service project.
The book donations will be distributed during “Candy for the Mind,” held as part of APSU’s Greater Halloween Options for Safe Trick-or-Treating (G.H.O.S.T.) event on Sunday, Oct. 26, from 2 to 5 p.m., at the center of campus. PKP volunteers will hand out books instead of candy, ensuring children leave the event with both a fun memory and a valuable reading resource…
